It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her newest gem.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not come up short.

Whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm at all," stated Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was in motion.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was out the team needed 66 more at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this championship want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those physical issues have delayed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
