Two Charged Over Heathrow Alleged Pepper Spray Attack
Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be pepper spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and charges for administering a noxious substance, according to official statements.
This legal action stems from an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two women were robbed of their suitcases stolen after exiting a car park lift, authorities reported.
A toddler was one of the people hurt in the event. Five people were taken to a medical facility and were subsequently released.
This event – which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism – resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a limited duration.
